Summary of this Book...
If God is good, then why do horrible things happen? Jerry Bridges dives in to the very deep end of the Christian theological pool and produces --in my opinion-- his best work to date. Using biblical standards as opposed to humanistic platitudes, Bridges no-nonsense yet reader-friendly apologetic is refreshing, timely for anyone who breathes oxygen and just plain good.
This type of Book is good for...
"...those who believe that their best days are so good or their worst days are so bad that they are beyond the need of God's grace." (from the book)
I especially liked... | ||
...chapter 7, titled God's Sovereignty and Our Responsibility(/i) twelve of the most important theological pages I have read to date. It was a true revelation, and helped me embrace this eternal mystery.
I didn't like... | ||
...the secular alternative to this book, When Bad Things Happen to Good People.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
...read it again, which I did. I have a "clean" copy I use for reading, and another copy I use for highlighting particular thoughts or passages.
This Book made me feel...
...(1) grateful for the Cross of Christ, and (2) the Holy Spirit's power to help me keep God big and man small.
The author of this Book...
...has demonstrated humility time and again, and is a mentor to me.
I recommend this Book because...
...for Christians new and old, it will reinvent how you approach your maker.
Further Comments... | ||
Don't wait to read this one. From the first sentence you'll be hooked.
