Summary of this Book...
This was a fascinating, multilayered, and highly entertaining book, lending insight to some controversial topics concering the history of Christianity, paganism, art history, and even secret societies and their rituals.

This type of Book is good for...
people who love deciphering codes and trying to figure out a good mystery.
I especially liked...
I found myself trying to decipher the codes right along with the two main characters, as well as immersing myself in the controversial 'facts' and really thinking about faith and religion. I think that is the main reason why many people are so drawn to this book.
I didn't like...
It is sometimes difficult to separate fact from fiction though I'm sure many of the details, presented as fact, are fiction. Some of the characters seemed flat and one-dimensional, and the writing can be a bit melodramatic, at times. The pages seem to fly by, especially since there is a cliff hanger at the end of practically every chapter (which can get annoying midway through).
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
learn more about the background of this book and why the author felt the need to write it.
This Book made me feel...
like I was stepping into a secret vault of hidden information. This book never had me questioning my faith, but it did make me reflect more on it.
The author of this Book...
should learn new ways of ending a chapter instead of always using the cliffhanger approach, as well as delving into the characters personalities so that they won't seem so one-dimensional.
I recommend this Book because...
It's a quick and fun read, despite the subject matter. The illustrated version is so much better because it makes the reading experience all the more enjoyable and interesting, providing visual references of the many works of art discussed.
Further Comments...
This isn't wonderful literature. It is entertaining and fun at best, and bland and poorly written at its worst. Despite that, I found myself enjoying the book. The storyline pulled me in from the very beginning.
