Summary of this Book...
A seemingly perfect woman commits suicide and a wreck of a woman detective Mike Hoolihan tries to piece together what went wrong or right.
This type of Book is good for...
I haven't read many 'noir' mysteries, but it's supposed to be a new twist on these novels.
I especially liked... | ||
The main character was interesting, but we never really get under her skin and it all just seems to fizzle out towards the end. As always Martin Amis' style won me over; he always has something different to say.
I didn't like... | ||
It was very short and probably more an idea that went on for a bit too long; a short story or novella rather than a fully fleshed out novel. I'm glad I bought it cheaply second-hand.
This Book made me feel...
In places disturbed and in others darkly amused.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It has a fairly frank discussion about suicide and in places it is quite graphic, so it's probably not suited to everyone.
