Summary of this Book...
Mrs. Forsythe, the authoress of sensation novels published in a trashy newspaper in Victorian London, is asked whether she had anything to do with the death of a medium. She is questioned by a strange gentleman, Adam Hardesty. Of course, she denies any complicity. Of course, he is not entirely convinced. But, he is interested. So the murder mystery commences.
This type of Book is good for...
A decent book to read on a lazy afternoon.
The author of this Book...
Amanda Quick a.k.a. Jayne Anne Krentz, creates passable historical romances that are quickly read and quickly forgotten. She produces so many adequate titles, you will find something by her on the "new release" shelf almost all the time.
Further Comments... | ||
Reading this I was at once reminded of Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes stories. However, nothing new was used. The characters are typical and the plot-line predictable. Miss Quick must be recognized as a profitable and prolific writer- able to supply a constant supply of average novels that meet market demands. However, I'm always left wanting more from her work. Real heart and soul is missing.
