Gabriel is the scarred and blind Naval veteran hiding out at the family estate. Samantha is the mysterious woman who appears as his nurse. He's grouchy- reminiscent of Jane Eyre- and she's feisty. They fall in love. He gets his eyesight back. She disappears (why?). You'll have to read it to find out.

Something to read for a lazy afternoon.

Personally, I figured out the "twists" about a third of the way through the book. That was very frustrating. It was a standard romance- nothing startingly new about the plot or the characters. Historical detail was very good. Like I said- if you have nothing better to do, read it.
