Summary of this Book...
Most writing books focus on the process of writing but this book does not. It deals with the emotional aspects of being a writer and how choosing to write affects your life and the lives of those around you.
I especially liked... | ||
A few choice chapters include: "Procrastination as War" "Procrastination as Armor" "How to be your own Bad Agent" "Manic Depression and Matters of State" "Writers and Lovers" "Writers Loving Writers" "Writers Loving Non-Writers" "Writing with Children in the House" "The Difficulty of Ending" This is just to name a few of my favorites this time around. Undoubtedly when my own mind is in another frame than it has been of late different chapters will strike different cords and I am sure it will be the same with you.
Further Comments... | ||
This book, Word Work, came at a particularly ideal time. I just could not put it down. From the midst of extreme writers block I went forward into my working week with confidence and more certainty. Any writer in the world will find chapters of this book almost bible quality. I even showed a couple of chapters to my non-writer husband and we were able to have a great discussion about how my writing affects our lives. This book is so good it can improve your relationships and give you the courage to end a poisonous relationship if required. A must read for any serious writer.
