A man awakes in a darkened room to find nothing. He searches around for a bit until he finds his food and water which he finds is drugged. Rats are everywhere as he falls into a deep sleep. When he awakens again he finds himself strapped to a bed with a pendulum swinging above him. He finds a way out of it and finds the walls are burning hot and are closing in on him. He almost falls into the pit but he soon hears voices and General Lasaille rescues him from his death in the pit.

Probably 7th grade and up.

When he escaped from the pendulum. It was completely awesome.

General Lasaille coming to the rescue. I feel like that ruined the ending.

Read it again. I don't get into books very well and when I read this, I got into it and just wanted to read it again!

Excited. It kept me coming back and reading it. I didn't want to put the book down.

Edgar Allan Poe has some talent.

It's exciting and you never know what will come next.

The beginning and ending are a bit boring.

This is a great book and I hope you get a chance to read it!
