Arkady Renko, the hero of "Gorky Park", goes to Cuba to investigate the murder of an old friend. He finds Cuba alive with music, sex and political intrigue. Arkady once again becomes entangled in a twisted murder plot that may, if he's not careful, kill him and the young Cuban investigator he teams with.

Anyone who likes a decent mystery.

The descriptions of Cuba, Santeria and how the Cubans, limited in their resources, have developed ways of their own, "The Cuban Way", to investigate murders.

The ending left a little bit to be desired. Arkady ends up alone, as always, wrestling with his solitary lifestyle.

Martin Cruz Smith's descriptions and dialogue are fantastic. He seems to know Cuba and seems intimate with his main character, Arkady Renko.

It's not literary genius, but it's a fast read and vastly entertaining.

There is some sex in this book and a lot of violence. I would not recommend it to people who are bothered by such things.
