Summary of this Book...
This book gently conveys the issues that adult children of alcoholics will likely face in their relationships. The issues such as fear, guilt, anger, shame, sex and more are illustrated with good examples.
This type of Book is good for...
Adults who were children of alcoholics and struggle with learning to become vulnerable. It's also a good book for those who are close to an adult child of an alcoholic and want to know why so many seemingly simple things such as communication are so difficult to achieve.
I especially liked... | ||
The section that the author presented on why adult children of alcoholics struggle with defining a healthy relationship. I liked the brevity of the presentations of the issues. Certainly this book is not an in-depth look into the problems faced by adult children of alcoholics. It is a good first look for someone who has never read of these things before.
This Book made me feel...
Like there are reasons for some of the behaviors of adult children of alcoholics and that since there are reasons, there are solutions.
The author of this Book...
Jane G. Woititz is a counselor in N.J.
I recommend this Book because...
This book is helpful in understanding why adult children of alcoholics have a fear of intimacy. The sections and observations are short snippits, little ideas that expose enough for assurance to heal without overpowering the hurting person's sense of insecurity.
Further Comments... | ||
If you or someone you know is an adult child of an alcoholic, this book would be helpful in dealing with the problems of intimacy that may present themselves.
