Summary of this DVD... | ||
Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro) begins his career as a taxi driver in 1970s New York city. His life seems normal enough, but under the surface, waiting to break through is a fierce amount of violence. This flame of violence is fanned by an ever increasing disgust for what this taxi driver sees on the streets: scum of the earth, death, and the exploitation of a girl (Jodie Foster) that is only twelve and a half years as a prostitute. His ultimate fate is violence.
I especially liked... | ||
The setting is just about the most genuine and gritty setting you could get in a movie. New York in the '70s is a pretty scary place.
I didn't like... | ||
Although the violent part of the ending is plausible and realistic, what ultimately happens to the cabbie does not seem very likely (I won't ruin it).
This DVD made me feel...
Like I was in the streets of 1970s New York.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
Robert De Niro plays Travis the troubled cabbie. Jodie Foster is the teenage prostitute. Harvey Keitel plays her pimp. Cybill Shepherd plays a woman who inadvertantly helped Travis go over the edge. The director of this movie is Martin Scorsese.
I recommend this DVD because...
It's a really good movie.
