Summary of this Book...
Seventeen year old Titus lives in a futuristic world where the internet, called the feed, is implanted into people's brains. One fateful day over spring break, Titus and his friends Link, Marty, Loga, Calista and Quendy head up to the moon to spend a few days. There, Titus meets Violet, a girl with whom he falls in love. The rest of the story is spent over the next few months, during which Titus' and Violet's relationship grows. Titus, who never has to think for himself because the feed tells him what to think, learns to grow and become his own person. Violet wants to fight the feed, so that people can make their own decisions and quit walking around talking like idiots, until a possibly fatal obstacle holds her back. I am not a huge fan of science fiction, but I picked this book up because it looked interesting, and it proved me right. The story is wonderfully chilling, with eerie predictions of what media a hundred years from now will be like.
I especially liked... | ||
I liked how this book made you think about the scary amount of media you are consuming each day. The story line is not something that is impossible, you could see it happening maybe in the near future, maybe not. I liked how the author, M.T. Anderson, made the people real, instead of two dimensional stereotypical sci-fi ish kind of cartoons.
I didn't like... | ||
Nothing. This was a perfect summer read.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I WANTED TO TURN OFF MY TV!!! Lol!! But then of course right after I finished reading I got on the internet to type up my review. What an oxymoron.
This Book made me feel...
I felt scared by the realization of how someday, we might actually have the internet implanted in our BRAINS. If you have ever seen the movie Minority Report, this book is in close proximity to it -- the overwhelming amount of "personalized" media bombardment is frightening.
The author of this Book...
The author of this book is M.T. Anderson. He's also written the books Thirsty and Burger Wuss. I've heard about Burger Wuss and have wanted to read it, but never got around to it. Maybe I will, if it's anything as skillfully written as this book.
I recommend this Book because...
It really, really, REALLY makes you think.
