Summary of this Book...
This book details much of the social history of (European) women from prehistory to the present. There is much detail given about power, authority, preconceptions and misconceptions given throughout this book. For instance, there was a time that if a woman were raped and became pregnant, it was believed that she was not really raped at all. It was believed that if a woman became pregnant it was an indication that she had achieved orgasm during sex, thus proving that she had engaged in consensual sex.
