Summary of this Book...
There are few books I enjoy as much as this one. I've read it so many times I can't keep count--maybe thirty?--and each time this precious book becomes even more dear to me. Breathtaking characterization, awe-inspiring plot, remarkable research--everything about this book is absolutely perfect. To give you a general idea of what this book is about, I'll tell you that the main character's name is Cadi Tregaron, a girl from (I believe, it's not really clear) around turn-of-the-century England. Her grandmother was an Italian girl from Venice who suffered a mysterious accident that made her forget nearly everything about her past, including who she was. Cadi is left all alone upon the deaths of both her parents, and goes to live with a wealthy man, whose life she and her father had saved, and his family. The story is mainly about Cadi discovering her past, as well as about the mysterious hero of the story, Lucian Farrel.
I especially liked... | ||
No character description has given me the chills like Brent's of Lucian Farrel. Cadi's is a gradual description, as she develops throughout the story, but Lucian's--I won't say anything else. I'll just say that you HAVE to read this book.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read any other book by Brent, but sadly they seem to be rather rare. I haven't gotten my hands on any other than "Tregaron's Daughter," and over the years, as I read the book so many times, I have to admit that I'm not sure if I really want to read anything else by her for fear I'll be disappointed. I believe I will continue trying to find any in all of the local libraries, though.
I recommend this Book because...
Because this book is pure genius, with a perfect plot and fascinating characters, it is a lesson, all the way through, on how a romantic thriller can be written. It's a lesson in writing, period!
