Summary of this Book...
Robert Neville is the last living man on earth. Everyone else has become a vampire, and he must learn to survive at night - alone.
I especially liked... | ||
This book was very enjoyable. It was the most enjoyable vampire novel I have ever read. In my opinion, it is better than Dracula, or 'Salem's Lot (Stephen King), and I liked both of those novels. What makes this book so good is the way Matheson weaves this story. At one moment he can make it comical, at another deep, and then frightening. The story is so rich and thought out that you cannot help but keep reading it, even though you know you should put it down and go to sleep because you have to be at work in five hours (which happened to me last night).
I didn't like... | ||
The only thing that I did not like was how short this novel was. It was only 170 pages and it took practically no time at all to get through it.
This Book made me feel...
Very amused at times. Rarely will a horror book make me laugh, but this one did. Matheson is so good at visual description that some things can seem funny. I do not know if he intended this or not, but when Neville gets drunk and starts cursing a shot glass that did not break when he threw it against a wall, and then he stomps on it; I just thought that was one of the funniest things I had ever read, because I could picture it perfectly, and it looked funny.
The author of this Book...
Richard Matheson has written mostly horror short stories for a long time. He originally wrote I Am Legend in 1954, but he renewed it in 1982. His style of writing is one of the most enjoyable I have ever read.
I recommend this Book because...
This is a fantastic story about vampires and survival. Despite its short length, it packs a punch for any horror fan.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I honestly do not know why anyone should not read this, unless you are not old or mature enough. This book is not overly gory, but some concepts can be somewhat disturbing. But really, I think just about anyone can read this and come out feeling okay.
