Summary of this Book...
The only novel that explores the entire life of Erik - "The Phantom", the man behind the mask. The story begins at his birth, details his relationship with his mother, his running away, the cruelty he endured, his acceptance of his beautiful gift (and his hideousness,) his travels in the east, all the way back to Paris and his relationship with Christine.

If you are a Phantom fan you MUST read this book! It absolutely completes the musical and the original novel.
I especially liked...
The wonderful ending! It makes the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" so much more complete and even a bit... happier.
I also loved how it followed so perfectly the musical - there were no plot holes and contradictions with the play. It fit so perfectly.
I didn't like...
I loved all of it. I absolutely loved, loved, loved, all of it.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Turn it into a screenplay and listen to my cd of the Phantom of the Opera, which I did.
I made my husband read it (a filmaker) and he agreed "this HAS to be made into a movie!"
(... or perhaps a new musical??) - And he is not even a Phantom fan!
This Book made me feel...
Sad at times but absolutely elated by the end. I told everyone I knew about it and forced them to read it.
The author of this Book...
Is brilliant. It is easy to read, but deeply moving. The writing is almost melodic, but also quite haunting. You won't be able to put it down.
I recommend this Book because...
I know all Phantom Of The Opera fans would love it.
Further Comments...
This is my all time favorite book ever. At least for the past 10 years. I actually discovered this book when I was 16. I am now 26 and have read it 3 times.

Read it, you'll love it!
