Summary of this Book...
all the elements of screenwriting you can imagine! This book contains ways to help you plot and write your screenplay, offers advice on writing not only for the silver screen, but for television and short films as well. You can even learn how to write, create and market your own short film. EVERYTHING you can possibly need to know appears to be covered here. Skip Press writes in a direct way that makes you feel like you're talking to a friend. While he's offering you sound advice, he also suggests other books, and supplies LOTS of website addresses for you to check out. He doesn't just teach you how to build a screenplay, but how to build a screenwriting career.
I especially liked... | ||
how he teaches you to catch the mistakes too often made by amateurs, and the tips and tricks he provides to make your work more marketable.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
share my new (and in some cases, relearned) knowledge with others and THEN get to work on my own scripts.
The author of this Book...
Skip Press is a journalist, screenwriter and author. He is to the marketing of screenplays what Syd Field is to the writing of them. The Expert.
I recommend this Book because...
it is my all-time favorite book on screenwriting. Everyone who wants to write a screenplay should own this book!
Further Comments... | ||
The body of the book itself is filled with great information, but I must admit I'm a junky for the little boxes of info prevalent throughout all books in the Idiot's Guides series. Skip Press even teaches which brads to clip your screenplays with, which ones NOT to use, and why it really does make a difference! I'd love to play screenplay writing trivia after reading this book! It's a shame no such game exists. I'd win! Until somebody markets the idea, I'll stick with winning in Hollywood with my next, well, first, block buster movie. Thanks to Skip Press, I feel like a know-it-all. You can too if you pick up this essential guide to screenwriting.
