This is the first graphic novel that I've read but more on that below.

The artwork is superb! The story is gripping and I couldn't put it down until I had finished the whole volume!

Speech bubbles make it often hard to see which person they're coming from.

Is obviously a fan of Sherlock Holmes.

Any fan of Sherlock Holmes will like this. Mary Russell fans will find a niche in Simon Archard's lovely partner Emma Bishop.

No reason not to.

Comic books are not my thing. Cartoons sometimes; comic books, no. But after several people on the RUSS-L email list recommended RUSE, I decided to give it a try. After reading the sample on the CrossGen website, I was totally blown away! Not only do the plot and characters have the taste of a novel, the added bonus of artwork that is "realistic" is the next best thing to seeing it on TV. The artwork isn't typical comic book sludge, the attention to detail is amazing and the colors are beautiful. This graphic novel series has the romance of a Victorian mystery but a dash of fantasy thrown in to make it extra interesting. Go now, read this book :)
