I don't even know where to start with this book. It felt like a huge mash-up of a bunch of different things, and the author wasn't willing to commit to any one particular idea or execution. It was a hodgepodge of concepts like a cyborg corps of exactly 100 soldiers, but then one of them defects because she decides to have a kid... and the protagonist just happens to be that cyborg's brother (and the uncle of the child). He's of course tasked with either bringing them in or taking them out, which obviously leads him to question his orders for the first time in his life.

In a lot of ways, it kind of reminds me of the worst elements of Star Wars, a franchise that I love, but seems to work way too hard to try and connect all the characters to one another in ways that they really don't need to be connected. There was also a lot of author explaining that started to grow tedious, where he would be like, "Obviously Camden recognizes the fighting style of his sister, something nobody else could do." It honestly seemed like an early draft that was published, before an editor really got in there and helped smooth things out.

Overall, I can't really say that I recommend this book, unless you're just a fan of all things cyborg and will read everything on the topic regardless of quality. But for those looking for a good story or compelling characters, I personally found it a little lacking.
