Summary of this Book...
This book is about a family that sees much tragedy. The father dies, and mother and two daughters must move from their farm and they settle in a caravan park, and run it. The two girls (two years apart in age) are very close, doing everything together. Then when Flora, the older sister, is 16 she disappears. Heather, the younger grows up, marries and has a son. One day, she kills two people in cold blood, tries to kill herself, ends up in a coma close to death and facing murder charges. An old friend of Heather who has become a journalist, returns to do a story. And that's when the excitement begins. The true stories behind the many events that affect these people's lives start coming out as Jessica, the old friend of Heather, starts asking questions. So many people have secrets, and the truth slowly seeps out between the lines of the various point of views of the main characters.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who enjoys reading exciting murder mysteries, wrapped up in secrets and intrigue that takes you through several plot twists.
I especially liked...
that I was totally intrigued by this story, sucked in from the beginning, and was not disappointed with how the story unfolded. I really liked the main characters, especially the loving mother, Margot. She was such a strong influence in the girls' lives. I sympathized with Jessica, who was tormented by her own demons, and was trying to juggle her friendship with this family and her commitment to her job.
I didn't like...
the scuzzy characters whose dirty secrets intertwined with the main characters. But they are a vital part in the story (as the villains), so I guess I loved to hate them.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
read more by Claire Douglas.
This Book made me feel...
sad for the Powell family, empathetic towards Jessica, frustrated with the police department and angry with all the creeps who had terrible secrets of their own.
The n/a of this Book...
did a brilliant job of telling a story that is truly a suspenseful mystery.
I recommend this Book because...
Action packed, danger filled, plot twisting, suspenseful pages kept me at the edge of my seat, turning pages feverishly till I reached the end. I will definitely read more from Claire Douglas.
