Bits and Pieces is heart-felt and real! In this book, Whoopi Goldberg (born Caryn Johnson) expresses a deep love for her mother and brother and outlines the relationship they all had that had a major impact on the woman she became, the success she became. Events aren't necessarily logged chronologically, but Whoopi Goldberg tells her story as her heart allows. She mentions many of the actors she worked with in her career and directors who gave her her start.

Right at the beginning Whoopi tells us that her memories may not be completely accurate, as different people in the same moments remember situations differently.

I wanted to read her autobiography, so I ordered it.

I was moved by the devotion of her mother and brother and touched by what this fostered in Caryn Johnson. I was saddened by the deaths of these two major people in her life and felt the loneliness she felt, being the one left behind, without the two people who were such strong rocks for her.

Bits and Pieces is full of the wisdom that Whoopi's mother, Emma Harris, imparted to her. This is definitely worth the time to read.
