Summary of this Book...
This is Maya Angelou's first autobiography. It covers everything, from her relationship with her brother, Bailey, to her horrific attack aged eight. Her truth is told so clearly, poignantly. It's actually a little hard to read at times.

However, May Angelou's spirit shines through., She shows how she came to accept and love herself, and how that is what gave her the freedom to sing. I love the metaphor or how telling her story is breaking free of her cage, her prison of painful memories and shame.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who enjoys biographies or memoirs. Also fans of Maya Angelou. Anyone who loves beautiful, poetic prose.
I especially liked...
The author's spirit.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read some of Angelou's poetry.
This Book made me feel...
Sad. But also happy, ultimately.
The author of this Book...
Maya Angelou. I love this woman. So much that I have words from one of her poems tattooed on my arm.
I recommend this Book because...
It's really interesting. And it's a great story of how great the human spirit can be.
