Summary of this Book...
This is Maya Angelou's first autobiography. It covers everything, from her relationship with her brother, Bailey, to her horrific attack aged eight. Her truth is told so clearly, poignantly. It's actually a little hard to read at times. However, May Angelou's spirit shines through., She shows how she came to accept and love herself, and how that is what gave her the freedom to sing. I love the metaphor or how telling her story is breaking free of her cage, her prison of painful memories and shame.
