There are now dozens of published Pete the Cat titles, all inspired by James’s real-life rescue pet. Kimberly Dean is an artist, yoga enthusiast, and #1 New York Times bestselling author. Further Comments...
The classic children's bedtime song, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" gets a new (ish... the book was published ten years ago... but the song is much older) update with Pete The Cat / James Dean's version. Even if you don't feel like singing the lyrics, it's a fun regular read. Though if you are reading this with a little one who knows the original lyrics, he or she or they will surely enjoy singing these new ones too, especially if they already like Pete the Cat. Some of my favorite illustrations: -The firefly one I already mentioned above -Pete the Cat using the moonlight to show his mom is spelling words - and the words. - Pete and his family eating dinner - who expects a cat family to have burgers, peas and fries for dinner? - Pete the Cat in his "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" pajamas and red slippers. - Pete the Cat's Mom reading him a "bedtime stories for cats" book that features "The Cat and the Fiddle." - Pete the cat taking a rocket to a star and playing his guitar on it. I also loved that the cover featured Pete the Cat playing his guitar on the moon. I borrowed an electronic copy of this book from my local library. I think today was the second time that I read it for this loan. It's only thirty two pages, so can be a quick read, if you're not singing and re-reading it several times. Maybe even if you are. Even though it's ten years old, it's still on at least three Amazon best seller lists at the time of this review: "Best Sellers Rank: #243,035 in Kindle Store (See Top 100 in Kindle Store) #54 in Baby & Toddler Nursery Rhyme Books #252 in Children's Cat Books (Kindle Store) #304 in Nursery Rhymes" I wonder... do they only list three? I'll have to look at some other listings to see. I'm guessing it's just the top three or, maybe, if you're high up, you could be on more than three. If you know the answer to this for sure, feel free to send me a private email.
