A badass detective, Darlene O'Hara, is a bit self-destructive, but a pit bull/hound dog of an investigator. She gets information from an old, dying drug user that he killed his ex-partner, and tells her he's buried under a tree in the park.

Finally getting the acceptance of her Captain, she gathers up a team and heads to the tree to find the body. The team does uncover a body, but it's not the body of a grown man, it's that of a ten-year-old boy.

To track down the killer she travels from New York to Florida, where she tracks down two men who she suspects are the perpetrators who killed the little boy. What she uncovers is a seedy underground operation.

It's a Romanian Secret Society of Secrets. Like a hound dog, she follows every clue, no matter where it may lead her. She does not rest until she gets answers. She won't give up on finding the killer of the little boy.

This is a good book. If you like a little gritty, noir fiction crime novel, then you're sure to enjoy this book. I look forward to reading more from him. This is Book #2 of the Detective Darleen O'Hara series. The first book is called, "Shadows Still Remain."

I wanted to read more from the author. I haven't read book #1 yet, so I plan on purchasing that book today.
