Una is a grifter in the 1800's (pick pocket). She lives in the griminess of the city's streets but is taught to dress and hold her head high like she is not. That way she won't be suspected. It all goes bad when she's at a bar to meet someone to sell something she grifted. In the alley by the bar, they hear a commotion and come up on someone getting murdered. Una and her friend take off but are arrested. The police are framing Una for the murder. Una gets away and applies for a nursing student position at the local hospital. There the murders follow her. She also learns of true friendship, has a love interest, and has to keep swimming upstream to stay out of trouble.

For anyone who likes Historical Fiction, Medical Fiction, or a good exciting, clean read.

The pace of the book was excellent. It kept me interested all the way through. There weren't any parts that just dragged on.
