Summary of this Book...
Most of this book is creative, funny and fantastic. The end, however, doesn't fall in the enjoyable category for me personally.

This is Dr. Seuss' take on the arms war, told in a way that might pass over the littlest kids' heads but might give nightmares to those a bit older or logically minded.

Funny how easy it is to forget that at any time the whole world could explode from a "Big-Boy-Boomeroo" ... mutually assured destruction is a deterrent but the threat is still there.

I guess I'm not as familiar with Dr. Seuss' work as I thought. The books I remember were uplifting and appropriate for most kids. This one could give them nightmares at the end. Maybe if the parents gave an alternate ending it would bee good for kids. I chuckled a few times from the beginning to near the end. I did, overall, enjoy the book.
This type of Book is good for...
Kids with parents who are willing to write a less scary ending. Kids who don't think past the surface. People of any age who won't be disturbed by the ending.
I especially liked...
The creativity and the illustrations. Daniel, the little Kick-a-Poo Spaniel. The title, Chief Yookeroo. The sign on the door of the Top-est Secret-est Brain nest.
I didn't like...
How sad I felt at the end.

Unmet expectations... I expected the ending to have the Yooks and the Zooks come to their senses, and make peace. They were fighting over something so silly, after all. How could they not?
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Cry.
This Book made me feel...
Amused at first and in the middle but sad and frustrated at the end.
The author of this Book...
From Amazon: "Theodor Seuss Geisel—aka Dr. Seuss—is one of the most beloved children’s book authors of all time. From The Cat in the Hat to Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, his iconic characters, stories, and art style have been a lasting influence on generations of children and adults. The books he wrote and illustrated under the name Dr. Seuss (and others that he wrote but did not illustrate, including some under the pseudonyms Theo. LeSieg and Rosetta Stone) have been translated into 45 languages. Hundreds of millions of copies have found their way into homes and hearts around the world. Dr. Seuss’s long list of awards includes Caldecott Honors, the Pulitzer Prize, and eight honorary doctorates. Works based on his original stories have won three Oscars, three Emmys, three Grammys, and a Peabody."
I recommend this Book because...
It did make me smile more than a few times.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It made me sad at the end. Not the way one wants to feel before bedtime.
Further Comments...
I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library.
