Summary of this Book...
Oh, my days. I loved this book. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting; it was so much more.

The story is about a woman called Natasha who lives with her incredibly wealthy, self-made husband, Nick, and their toddler, Emily. She has the perfect life except for one thing: Nick’s ex-wife, Jennifer. Jen seems to be spending more and more time with Nick, but, at first, Natasha is just annoyed at her clinginess. She doesn’t really think she is a threat. Although, like her mother says, once a cheater, always a cheater. And Nick cheated on Jen with Natasha, so it would be perfectly obvious if that were the case.

Part of the problem with Jen and Nick’s relationship was that they couldn’t have children. And they both longed for a child of their own. That is why Nick left Jen when Natasha fell pregnant. Jen, understandably, didn’t take the news well. She is still desperate for a child, and for her own family with Nick.

I think my favourite thing about this book is how I got to almost half way through — to Part Two — before discovering that the main narrator was not who I thought she was. This blew my mind, and I absolutely loved it. That was a great plot twist from Jess Ryder.

There is another important character in this story, and that is Sam. He is hired as the driver for Nick when Nick loses his license due to drink-driving. But, in his spare time, Nick teaches Natasha to drive, and the two become very close. Then, one day, he tells her he saw Jen and Nick together. Natasha is heartbroken. But, she has to keep it together because she doesn’t trust Nick to enter into a fair divorce. With his money and his family, he would easily get custody of Emily. So, Natasha plans to run away with her daughter. However, before she can do this, Nick disappears with the little girl, and the only person who might be able to help Natasha find them is Jen.

But, can she trust her? Is Jen involved in the abduction? The rest of a novel is a race to find Emily before Nick disappears completely. And there are a gazillion plot twists along the way. I never knew who I could trust, I was constantly questioning everything I thought I knew. It is a brilliant, fast-paced psychological thriller. Jess Ryder pulls it off with aplomb.

The ending … oh, the ending. I don’t want to give anything away. But, it is very clever, and it is exactly right for all involved.
