Summary of this Book...
This is a sweet, modern, Christian romance and family drama story. The three central living characters are Gena, a nurse practitioner, Quinn, an architect and former football star, and Gena's nephew Derrick. Derrick is Quinn's son but neither Derrick nor Quinn know this for most of the book. The reason is part of the drama. Derrick's mom is a central figure too, in a way, even though she's deceased for the whole story. This is the third in the author's "The Buchanons" series. I don't think I ever read book one but I'm pretty sure I read the second book when it came out. I meant to read this one and think I bought it back then (2016) directly from the publisher but I didn't read it until I found it on an old shelf recently. It was a good story. Nowadays I prefer more action-oriented stories but at the time I bought it I liked these emotional drama reads more. I liked it enough that I'll probably request the fourth book in the series from my library. It was nice to have the characters from book two brought back and when the ones from book one were introduced it was done well enough that even though I hadn't read that book, it was interesting to me.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like sweet romance novels, family drama novels and either are Christians or don't mind a little Christianity (I don't remember anything hard-hitting in this book but being a Christian is second nature to me so I might not notice).
I especially liked... | ||
Gena's character and that she was a nurse practitioner and really involved in her community and patients' lives. That she was willing to uproot her life for Derrick's best interests. That she was willing to work with Quinn for Derrick's best interests. I also loved the kitten element.
I didn't like... | ||
That the kitten's mom died... it wasn't graphic or anything, or even confirmed and I get that it was necessary for the plot but I love cats so there you go. There were some things I would have done differently than Gena did but none were story breakers for me.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the next one in the series and see how Sawyer finds love.
This Book made me feel...
All kinds of things along the way. The ending was especially nice in the feeling department.
