Book 5 in the Housewife series takes place a few weeks after Helen's drive-thru Elvis wedding ceremony. The reality of it crashes over her like a python dropping out of a tree- that she would now wake up every morning next to snoring rhinoceros Rick, a man with all the subtleties of a brick coming through your living room window. Feeling out of place in Rick's home and longing for her own apartment, she attempts to reinvent herself as a modern Superwife by taking advice from Leoni. Meanwhile, Leoni is trying to find a foolproof way of getting rid of her husband, Marcus, Julia is suffering with postpartum depression, and Sara is running Julia's business like Atilla the Hun.

If you think your family is the only one with skeletons buried in the backyard, the dysfunction in this book may cheer you up.

The authors writing style drastically changed throughout this series. While that's not exactly a bad thing, it also changed the personality of her characters. Which may not have been a real big issue if the series were stretched out over a longer period of time. Instead, the relatable lighthearted cast became irrational and judgmental in what is supposed to be a short period of time. What started out as a witty chronical of a newly widowed woman morphed into a three ring circus of slapstick situations. I could have enjoyed each book on it's own, but reading them as a series left me disappointed.
