This is a cozy mystery set in the fictional town of Kilbane, Ireland. It's the second in the "An Irish Village Mystery" series by Carlene O'Connor.

Kevin, the former best man, is killed before the wedding of a famous, beautiful and rich woman to a man her father doesn't approve of. For a good portion of the book we aren't sure whether Kevin was killed in a case of mistaken identity or if he was the real target after all. So that ups the suspense beyond just "who did it."

There are a lot of new characters in this book, thanks to the wedding, and there's more Irish culture explained, which I greatly appreciated. I found it to be a fun and enjoyable read that gets really tense at some points.

I think this book would be best enjoyed if the reader read the first book in the series first, as it's a continuation and the lead character, Siobhán O’Sullivan, is introduced in a much more lovable way in the first book (so I loved her already before reading this one, and that helped a lot).

There are even more suspects in this book and the ending took me more by surprise than the first book.

People interested in Irish culture, especially as it pertains to weddings in Ireland. People who like cozy mysteries.

Siobhán and Macdara's characters. The Irish culture. The twists in the plot that kept me wondering until nearly the very end. The scenes where Siobhán's love of family showed through.

The first chapter. I think it would have been better to skip that and filter the info about Kevin in later. I wanted the book to either open with Siobhán or someone more likable or something more interesting. The rest of the book was great though. Again there were no explanations or pronunciation keys for the Irish names, which would be nice for most readers, I think.

Cheer for Siobhán for finally figuring out her desired path in life (I thought it was obvious in the last book but I guess the author wanted to have some suspense in that department too.

Like I was part of Siobhán's family or even Siobhán herself... though I'm not nearly as adventurous.

"Comes from a long line of Irish storytellers" according to the back book jacket. I seem to remember that she grew up spending time in both Ireland and America and has a love of both countries.

It was a greatly enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
