Summary of this Book...
I came to this book after reading (and loving) Shari Lapena’s first three books. If I’m honest, this one didn’t quite live up to the others. The plot is interesting, and I love the premise. However, I didn’t feel the tension and suspense I got from her other books. The end kind of fell flat. It seemed like there was a lot of accusing the same people, then releasing them. I wanted more. As for the second murder, I didn’t think it added anything to the story. I failed to see the point of it. It is a thriller about a woman who is murdered and a boy who breaks into people’s houses and hacks their computers. Are they linked? Does the boy know more than he should? All of this aside, I still enjoyed the book. I liked watching the story unfold. The plot is unique. So that’s good.
This type of Book is good for...
People who love quick, easy-to-read thrillers. It’s a good holiday read. It’s easy to follow and keeps you guessing.
I didn't like... | ||
The narrative was at least 80% passive voice. Maybe, I wouldn’t have even noticed a couple of years ago, but having taken writing classes, it now screams out at me. A lot of adverbs and adjectives, too. This is the author’s fourth book, and her first three weren’t as bad as this. It left me confused and annoyed.
The author of this Book...
Shari Lapena writes crime thrillers. This is her fourth. She always has a feat ‘whodunnit’ aspect to her novels.
