Summary of this Book...
This is the follow up to ‘The Last Hours’. The two books make up Minette Walters’ Black Death novels. In this book, the action moves away from Develish and into Blandforde. Thaddeus takes on the role of My Lord Of Athelstan. There is deception and double-crossing, prisoner-taking and court sessions. It moves the action along from the first novel, and there is a clear difference between the Develish before the pestilence and the Develish afterwards. If I’m honest, I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first book. I preferred the tension inside of Develish with Lady Eleanor, and the suspense with Thaddeus and the boys as they searched for supplies. While this book did have tension, it was fairly obvious where the plot was headed. Nevertheless, a thoroughly good read, and I would still love to read another sequel.
