This is a fun and cute book about an adorable child named Ella Brook whose mom can turn into a fairy at will. The trouble is her mom's not all that great at remembering her fairy spells and so there are plenty of disasters and adventures. I couldn't find the Amazon number for the hardcover version, which is what I read. I thought the illustrations went great with the story and helped bring it to life. I fell in love with Ella and her mom and thought her dad, baby brother, two best friends and her not best friend neighbor were great side characters.

Well, I'm an adult and I really enjoyed it but it's definitely aimed at kids and probably more at female readers than male readers. But I think all Sophie Kinsella fans will enjoy the book because she brings her great sense of humor to the writing.

How Ella loved her mom despite her many mistakes and how open her mom was to Ella's help. The additional activities and discussion questions at the back were a nice bonus.

The mean neighbor girl but we're not supposed to like her.
