Summary of this Book...
In this book John Rebus must solve the murder of a body that was found in a fire that was set in a hotel some 5 years earlier. The fire was set to cover up the killing, but now figuring out who the person was and who was responsible is the focus. Rebus is drawn into this case after one of his own police constables is beaten outside a place he frequents. Apparently he was getting close to the truth and someone wanted to silence him. Rebus takes up where his constable leaves off and manages to finally catch a man who has been sliding through the system for years. In the process of the investigation Rebus manages to get himself suspended as he himself is found with incriminating evidence - he is getting too close.

Further Comments... | ||
A detective novel. This is 5th in Ian Rankin's Inspector John Rebus series. I like these characters. I also enjoy reading about the darker side of Edinburgh, Scotland. I started reading the series after going on a trip to the area two summers ago. I have been hooked ever since.
