The book is an autobiography, written by Kate Mullgrew, the actress of Star Trek fame. It is an honest open account of events of her very unconventional life from early beginnings to the time when she found the daughter she had given up for adoption. She shares the dark and light sides of her experiences with relationships, family, her trials and truimphs in show business, and her emotional journey as she struggled with missing the daughter she had to give up.

Readers who like authentic autobiographies and interest in people overcoming challenges. Perhaps people who have had to give children up for adoption will identify with Kate.

learning about Kate's life as I knew nothing about her except for her movie roles. How she was a survivor and never gave up her dream. I appreciated her close relationship with her mom. I also enjoyed the photographs that punctuate the work.

Kate Mullgrew, an actor, born in 1955, was inspired to write this book by her daughther after she found her. She writes with a strong straight voice. She is known for roles in Ryan's Hope tv series, Mrs. Columbo and her best known one in Star Trek Voyager!

It is a wonderful read filled with drama of a real life. It was inspiring and honest and fun to read.
