Summary of this Book...
I can’t call this book entertaining after I’ve read quite a few volumes of Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. Yet, the plot with its complicated and hard-to-believe conspiracies and scams may succeed to entertain those who like to read stories of action and intrigue.

The main character is the very intelligent Riley Moon with several Harvard degrees. Riley works as an analyst for a large bank, Blane-Grunwald, owned by the Grunwald family. Enter a handsome billionaire Emerson Knight who has a pet armadillo and lives in a mansion called Misterioso Manor with his eccentric aunt Myra.

Emerson Knight, upset over his account manager Günter Grunwald’s disappearance, wants to withdraw his holdings of gold or at least see his gold bullion bars just to make sure they are safe.

Bank manager Werner Grunwald assigns Riley to Knight’s case, and after lots of intricate action, an elaborate mixture of bad guys, and various travels, the two uncover a sinister worldwide conspiracy to steal the USA’s gold reserves.

Most of the characters in the book are quirky or rather too quirky to be credible, but they may offer some cheap laughs. Emerson Knight’s and Riley’s characters are more relatable and better fleshed out, granted with their own sets of quirks, but they aren’t as far out as those of the supporting characters.

The chain of events with many twists and turns can make this book a nice beach read, but it fell short for me as to its quality as a humorous mystery.

This type of Book is good for...
maybe a beach read?
I especially liked...
the fact that Janet Evanovich is still writing, but maybe she should stay away from collaborations.
This Book made me feel...
as if I lost my time with it. Still, it had some hooking power.
The author of this Book...
is Janet Evanovich, bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series who teamed up with Phoef Sutton for a brand-new series of mysteries featuring Emerson Knight and Riley Moon.
Further Comments...
It might just be that this kind of mystery is beyond me, but I can see how others may enjoy it, as it has a continuing excitement factor in it. So, I neither recommend nor not recommend it.
