Summary of this Book...
Cujo is the tragic tale of a St. Bernard who contracts rabies from a bat at his owners house, which is also a makeshift garage. The Trentons, Vic and Donna, along with their 4 year old son, Tad, have recently moved into town, and after having serious car problems, the mother and son go to the garage to have it repaired, not knowing that they’re about to be held hostage in their car by Cujo, who has already killed his owner. Oddly enough, this story is based on a real incident of Stephen King’s life. And the tale isn’t so much supernatural as many of his stories of this time period were. Instead, it deals more with the horrors of everyday life.
This type of Book is good for...
making sure your dogs are up to date on their shots.
I especially liked... | ||
how King can make something that happens so infrequently into a terrifying read.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Like all of King’s novels, I wait with bated breath for his next one to come out in the bookstore.
The author of this Book...
has entertained hundreds of millions of readers around the world with his books, and there is no end in sight. He’s been compared to such greats as Mark Twain and Charles Dickens, and he’s received numerous awards for his contributions to literature.
I recommend this Book because...
unlike many of his other novels, Cujo isn’t so much horror as it is about what life in any American town could look like. As I’ve said before, there is little, if any, supernatural aspect to this story.
Further Comments... | ||
The movie version of Cujo was released in the summer of 1983, and it remains one of Stephen King’s favorite adaptations of one of his books. Dee Wallace, who portrayed the mother, Donna Trenton, also played the mother in ‘E.T.—The Extraterrestrial’, and King later said that she should have been nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Cujo.
