Summary of this Book...
When Anna, pregnant and recently separated arrives in the sleepy town of Camedip in the Summer of 1986 and rents a room from Isabel Mackinnon, she is oblivious to the dark history surrounding the small Devonshire village and how the lives of the villagers are entwined deep within it. But as time goes on and the seasons change, Anna begins to unravel the secrets of Cameldip and becomes wary of Isabel's good intentions.

Spanning thirty years and telling the story from many different perspectives, "The River" tells the story of the residents of Cameldip, from their past to the present and glimpsing in to their future.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like stories told from several different perspectives with different timelines, people who like mysteries.
I especially liked...
The fact it is set in England and all the different characters you get to know in the story. The plot is also interesting and keeps you guessing.
I didn't like...
The ending, to me it seemed the author didn't know how to end the book and just took an easy way out! There are parts of the book where the Author's writing style does not appeal to me as much as with other books but the fact that the story is interesting does detract from this.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Escape to the Country.
I recommend this Book because...
The plot is interesting and keeps you guessing. The chapters jump from one person to another and from one time to another so you are always piecing the bits together and working out who is related to who and in what way, which keeps it interesting. The characters are very diverse and well thought out although I wouldn't say many of them are particularly "likeable" or that I felt an affinity with any of them.
