This is a psychological thriller about a newspaper reporter who is sent to her home town to report on the murders of two teenage girls. She has recently been in a psychiatric hospital, due to self harm. Once home, he reconnects with her mother and half sister, but the family dynamics are weird, to say the least. The main character's sister (we learn) died as as child. This is the story of Camille Preaker, the journalist trying to figure out who killed the two teenage girls and, ultimately, her younger sister.

People who like psychological thrillers.

The plot was predictable - I saw the ending coming from a mile off. The actual writing itself, I thought, wasn't great. I was disappointed. This is the first Gillian Flynn I've read (I heard good things with Gone Girl, but thought I would start with Flynn's first novel).

Complain to the writer that I didn't like the predictability of the ending.

Annoyed. I did enjoy parts of the plot, and I was excited to reach the denouement. Only, when I did, it was exactly what I imagined.

I know Gillian Flynn is popular, due to the success of Gone Girl, but I really wasn't keen on her writing style. It seems unpolished.

It's a quick, easy summer read.

It's not well written.
