Eleven tells the story of Australian born Xavier Ireland, a radio DJ on a UK call-in show "Late Lines" between the hours of midnight and 4AM.

Xavier's listeners are the night people - those who work late or perhaps those who just can't sleep - and he is famous for the words of advice he imparts to them. Meanwhile, during the days, Xavier fails to listen to his own advice and is haunted by his past whilst failing to maintain any meaningful relationships or progress in his career.

But unbeknown to Xavier, a decision he idly makes one snowy day in London will go on to have consequences for eleven individuals across the City and ultimately decide his fate.

An easy read, good to read whilst travelling, those who like light-hearted or humorous fiction, those who like reading books about real people in a modern setting.

The fact the book was set in London and the fact that there were a lot of characters in it who each had their own little side stories to Xavier's. The book plays on the "Butterfly Effect" - taking one small action and going on to explain how it causes actions for each person in the chain and I liked this idea and think it was mostly well executed in the book.

The Author keeps spelling out the links between the different characters to make it obvious for the reader, I presume, but I don't think this is necessarily needed. I also think that some places in the story were over described, almost as if the writer were trying too hard to impress.

The book focuses a lot on awkward exchanges of conversation between individuals and whilst this seems reasonable and even amusing in parts, the extent of the awkwardness in every day life seems a bit unrealistic to me.

Know what happened to the characters afterwards - the book has one of those endings which leave the future of Xavier up to the reader instead of actually telling you what happens to him. Although some people prefer this, I do like the ends to be tied up at the end of a novel.

Glad that I don't find eveyr day conversations as awkward and difficult as the people in this book!

It is an easy read and there are lots of different characters, although their actions are not always believable, their stories kept me interested. The plot isn't totally obvious (although is a bit predictable in parts) and does keep you intrigued enough to carry on reading to the end.
