Laurie Smith survives a fire at a hotel in which her best friend is killed. The problem is, Laurie has a feeling it should have been she who died, not her friend. If she's right, then she has 24 hours to get to London to meet her mother and daughter from the train from Paris before they meet with danger.

The suspense through the middle of the book.

It wasn't written brilliantly. I was a little put off by certain grammatical errors. The editing didn't seem to have been very professional. Also, the ending was an anti-climax. I thought it could have been more exciting.

It was a slow starter, and the end could have been better, but the middle part made me feel excited and kept me guessing as to who the protagonist could trust.

It contains a good plot and quite a lot of suspense.
