Summary of this CDs & Vinyl...
This is a young group of guys who sing traditional Irish songs, as well as original new stuff. This particular CD is more in the traditional vein, which is what we enjoy. They are not like Celtic Woman, even though they are in the same age group. To be honest, I don't care for Celtic Woman - I find them to be slick and over produced. This group has members who are descendants of the Clancy Brothers and others, who are more geared toward respecting the traditional music while putting their own stamp on it. On this CD, I liked The Rising of the Moon and The Fields of Athenry in particular. I wasn't crazy about their take on Raglan Road, which is my favorite song. They sort of jazzed it up a bit too much for me. It is growing on me as Mr. hooves keeps playing it over and over hoping I will get over my reservations. If this group tours, I hope we can see them as a lot of the Irish singers we like are deceased. At least these guys are keeping the old songs alive with their youth and energy. I enjoyed this, but it wasn't my favorite ever by a long shot.
I recommend this CDs & Vinyl because...
it is young people carrying on the tradition of singing the older songs that are more geared towards people who love traditional Irish folk music.
