Summary of this DVD...
This is a DVD presentation of the music of one of the most beloved musicals in the history of theatre. Mr. hooves and I were lucky enough to see it at The Kennedy Center, in Washington DC before it went to Broadway. Our performance was actually rescheduled because of a snow storm and a train derailment accident that killed the wife of one of the actors. It was rescheduled for the following week or so and we went with out next door neighbors. This was around the beginning of the year in 1987, I believe. I would have to dig out scrap books with ticket stubs to confirm that and I'm too lazy to do that now.

The main performer that is in this DVD performance is Colm Wilkinson, an Irish Tenor who originated the role of Jean Valjean. He is the one we saw that first time we saw the show. Later on, after it was on Broadway for a while the road show came back to the Kennedy Center and we took the kids on the same day the Reagans were there for Nancy Reagan's birthday. So, we saw it twice, plus saw the President and Mrs. Reagan sitting in a box above us. We meandered to the front of the theatre to see them and it was very exciting.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who enjoys beautiful music. This isn't the play, it's the performers standing there singing the songs. There isn't a lot of messing with the set as there is with the play.
I especially liked...
Colm Wilkinson singing "Bring Him Home". I sob like a baby every time.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
hear the music again.
I recommend this DVD because...
if you have never heard the music, this has the songs at their best performed by the best of the cast in 1995, 20 years ago, while they were still young enough to do it justice. It is remarkable and brilliant.
