Summary of this Book...
Moist Von Lipwig is bored of the Post Office. Adora Belle Dearheart (Spike to Moist) is out saving golems and giving him absolutely no attention what so ever. The Post Office runs itself now (and has the first female golem in Discworld history). Luckily Vetinari has an idea to save Moist from himself and tries to put him in charge of the Bank and Royal Mint. When that fails (....Vetinari fail? Nah, not really) Moist finds himself taking the Chairman of the Bank for walkies and extracting various rubber implements from his canine gums.
This type of Book is good for...
Discworld fans - esp those that liked Moist's first novel, Going Postal.
I especially liked... | ||
Cameos by other Discworld sub-series characters - Vetinari features heavily in Making Money, but Sam Vimes, Sacharissa, and a few other poke their heads in.
I didn't like... | ||
The frequent references to the previous Chairman's sexual peccadilloes and the re-hash of Discworld jokes & expressions from earlier books. I believe the leopard truly CAN change his shorts, Sir Terry.
The author of this Book...
Has written 40 Discworld novels (plus affiliated books) as well as the Long Earth series, Truckers series and YA novel Nation. He has early on-set Alzheimer's disease and yet is still a better novelist than most can ever hope to be. Sadly I consider this to be one of his weaker novels.
Further Comments... | ||
If new to Discworld, welcome - but back up a few novels. Pratchett has mini-series within the series. Making Money is the second in the Moist Von Lipwig mini-series; set between Going Postal and Raising Steam.
