Summary of this Book...
This is a Jane Austen book I read on my Kindle. I got it for free as it is in the Public Domain. If you look around, you can probably find it for free. Catherine Morland is the heroine. This book gives some harsh opinions on phonies in polite society and how they manipulate, lie and scheme their ways into marriages with money. Catherine is someone who judges people for who they are and not what they have. She goes away from her sheltered family setting to visit in the larger town of Bath and meets a scheming brother and sister and a nice brother and sister. I won't give the ending away, but it reveals a lot about Catherine's good judgement and character.
I especially liked... | ||
the character of Catherine.
I recommend this Book because...
I think it is entertaining and witty. It is not very long, but it gives insight into the values of Jane Austen. Her characters are complicated - not what they seem at the start. I enjoyed reading this novel.
