Summary of this Book...
This is a novel I read on my Kindle. It is set mostly in England from 1910 until the end of WWII. It is rather a unique idea about a woman (a character named Ursula Todd) who lives her life over and over again. Each living of her life shows her learning something from the last go round. She encounters many things, including her own death, over and over again from different causes. She even dies as an infant. It took me about 200 pages to really get into the story, but once I did, it engaged me and captured my imagination. This book left me thinking and imagining. In one of her lives, Ms. Tood even has a chance to kill Adolph Hitler. Imagine how doing that before he did all the harm he did would have changed history!
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who likes creativity and originality in storytelling. I really like the concept of reliving life and learning from one's mistakes.
I especially liked...
the part about being in London during the Blitz of WWII. It was horrifically realistic to me.
I didn't like...
the character of Sylvie, Ursula's mother. Her father, Hugh, is such a dear that I could not imagine them being stuck with such an abhorently selfish woman.
The author of this Book...
is very imaginative and creative. This was a totally different way of chronicalling time.
I recommend this Book because...
it is very well written. As I indicated, it took me a while to get into it, but once I did I was hooked. I think at some point I will re-read it - it was that good.
Further Comments...
I hope they make a movie of this book and do justice to it. It is one of the best and most original books I've read in along time.
