I am a big fan of Denzel Washington, the star of this movie. This is because unlike most of the Hollywood crowd, Mr. Denzel Washington knows how to read a script and recognizes a good story when he sees it. I can rely on Denzel Washington in a number of ways.

I have never seen him give a bad performance and that is saying something. He gets the benefit of the doubt and more than one chance with me where others might fall short.

The first time I tried to watch the movie I could not continue. I am put off by drug addict antics (like snorting and slurring and staggering) in movies. I find them very predictable and nauseating. I have very little sympathy for the addicts amongst us, who we, the unwitting flying public rely upon.

But, when this movie came to Netflix streaming, I decided to give it another chance. I still do not like the snorting and drinking, but it was a pretty good story about a pilot who ironically is at his best when he is drunk and high on cocaine.

The question is whether he could have done what he did (saving most of those on board a big plane) without the substance abuse beforehand. The man's primary struggle is with his conscience, which is a good thing - to have one.

The "flight" scenes are scary and riveting. I do not know if I would take another flight without carefully staring at the Captain after this.

anyone who wants to be really scared of flying if they are too dopey to already not be scared.

Denzel Washington. In the end, he had me believing in his abilities under the influence which is pretty weird.

it is interesting to contemplate if the pilot (Denzel Washington) could have done what he did if he was sober. I found that to be intriguing.

There is no better actor working today than Denzel Washington. No one does a better job with material that is wanting. He is the best of the best.
