Summary of this Book...
Colin has such a fierce reputation on the battlefields that he is known as The Butcher of Berkamshire. He's a man's man - he doesn't dance, flatter, use fine table manners or know how to treat a woman. He is huge and terrifying, and proud of it.
When Alienore finds out the stepmother who loathes her has betrothed her to The Butcher, she knows she must flee or face a life of misery. She steals her brother's clothes and become Henri, the knight. She isn't much good with a sword, but good at keeping watch and eventually she is tasked with escorting a daughter of the house she is now working for, to her betrother - The Butcher of Berkamshire. Will he recognise her? What will happen if she is found out?
This type of Book is good for...
Any lovers of medieval romance. Also, this book is pretty clean, so if you don't like steamy romances, this would be good for you. It certainly doesn't suffer from the lack though.
I especially liked...
The character of Colin. At no time does the author pretend he is anything but what he is. When he seeks to woo a woman, he compliments her on her courage and strength, he polishes her weapons and he guards her sleep. What more could a woman want, after all? He thinks the smooth-talking men who woo women with pretty words and flattery aren't being very masculine. *Laugh* Yes, I loved Colin's character.
I didn't like...
*SPOILER ALERT*

I didn't like the fact that Alienore's ruse was uncovered, and she never confessed. Once she realised that Colin wasn't the type to harm innocents or women, she should have confessed. It wouldn't have changed the story drastically if done at the right moment but would have been much more satisfying for the reader.

Also, the evil characters had no hint of goodness to make them seem more real. No one is wholly evil, but these characters were made to seem so.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read more medieval romance!
I recommend this Book because...
Whenever I put it down, it lingered in my mind and I was watching the clock until I could get back to reading it. The hero and heroine were well done. *Smile*
