A college student, daughter of a professor, is murdered while out running. Inspector Lynley and Sgt. Havers are called in to investigate because a previous case in the neighborhood resulted in a disagreement among coroners as to cause of death. This one is definitely a murder. Another murder ensues during the investigation. All sorts of red herrings pop up as the first victim was pregnant, promiscuous and deaf. Lots of intrigue and twists and turns in this mystery thriller.
