Steven Calkum grew up on a small ranch in East Central Colorado, is a graduate of Colorado State University with Bachelor’s in Range Management and a Master’s in Agriculture. I hope to achieve a poetic realism. I first began writing at age 30 as work and family would allow. Working in Natural Resources Management forced me to do extensive writing, leaving little energy or desire to pursue fiction. Disability retirement due to health issues in 2014 has allowed more time, though pain and mental issues, a video game habit, make focusing on writing more difficult. Recently remarried, I plan to be a househusband and writer/storyteller.
