Poem on losing a loved one to death
Love has passed away.
Slipped from my hands like a fistfull of sand.
Making the days hot and dry
In the harsh light of the sun.
I try hard not to cry,
Making the cold, clear nights
Longer than eternity.
Bitter white stars
Glare down from an inky black sky.
And I can't find my love.
His spirit swallowed up
By death's black maw.
And love has passed away.
